More than twenty years ago, I dove in to Holistic Management, including a self-organized "internship" on cattle farms in South Africa where I wrote my first holistic context. Today, I am still an advocate for the outcomes that Holistic Management creates--resilience, abundance and harmony.
My career is dedicated to creating these outcomes for the people, communities and land served by both UVE and the Savory Institute. Both organizations are designed around a core promise to land stewards that Holistic Management works. I am a co-founder of UVE, where we serve land stewards, surrounding rural and Tribal communities across the Intermountain and the Pacific coast regions (as well as select projects outside this area). UVE began in its first iteration in 2014, and I joined the Savory Institute two years later as the global network coordinator.
This work is not easy, but the struggle of being an activist for the Ecosystem, land stewards and regionality in an economy built on extraction, commoditization and consolidation is worth it when I witness brothers (who own land together) in their 70s, who for the first time told each other something they appreciate about the other, when I am sent photos of land once barren, now recovered and flourishing through holistic planned grazing. I've learned that the mental and emotional state of land stewards is expressed through the state of the land they care for. Both matter.
I am a mother of two incredible children whose lives shape mine in beautiful ways I could have never imagined. I have been a foster parent, a guardian, and am happiest with a house full of kids. My greatest responsibility is to steward the environment that supports my children, and the community that nurtures them. My methods of replenishing and recharging are trail running, meditation, gardening and spontaneous acts of kindness and service to others.
My specialities within the UVE crew are: writing, facilitating restorative practices and Circle keeping, teaching holistic context creation, holistic decision-making, organizational health and regenerative design, stewarding relationships and holistic financial planning.

I’ve spent my life on the land in the American West, working with livestock, raising real food, and learning—sometimes the hard way—what it takes to make both a living and a life.
Over the past thirty years, I’ve built and managed regenerative ranch enterprises, raised grassfed beef and lamb, and worked alongside land stewards across the region to restore grasslands, rebuild floodplains, and strengthen rural communities. Early on, I stepped into direct marketing, selling grassland-raised beef directly to customers, created agritourism enterprises, and provided ecosystem services, long before it was common practice, because I needed business models that actually created enduring wealth based on the ‘solar dollar.’
I’m a co-founder of Savory Institute and now serve as CFO and Co-Director of UVE, where we support producers managing over 300,000 acres. As a Savory Master Field Professional, my work is grounded in helping people make better decisions—ones that hold up financially, ecologically, and personally over time.
I’ve studied agriculture and natural resource sciences at Washington State University, and later pursued a Master’s in Applied Positive Psychology from University of Pennsylvania because I came to understand that regeneration isn’t just about land—it’s about people. That led me to create LifeEnergy.Guide, a tool to help individuals and communities define and live into the quality of life they desire.
In many ways, my work is simple: I walk alongside people as we figure out together how to care for land, animals, and each other in a way that lasts.
I still find the most joy in the everyday—ranching, homesteading, good conversations, and being part of a global community that is trying to get it right.

I have spent 20+ years managing organizations with a focus on operations and people development. While working in the cannabis industry during the COVID pandemic, I developed a passion for supporting farmers which led to my work in regenerative agriculture.
I believe human wellness is directly tied to the health of the planet and returned to grad school in 2022 for a degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. I hope to incorporate ecological restoration with mental health and behavioral services in the future.I enjoy spending time outdoors with family, animals and plants and am active in social justice and grassroots community movements.

My passion for food and farming permeates every part of my life– as an eater, a cook, a gardener, a rancher, a food systems designer, an entrepreneur, and a facilitator. I am a fourth generation cattle rancher, and manage our grass fed beef operation, the Lazy R Ranch, alongside my dad in the channeled scablands west of Spokane, Washington. We have been practicing holistic management since the mid 1990s. I’m particularly interested in the intersection between social equity issues such as class, race, gender, sexuality, and ranching.
My academic pursuits have been around the intersection of business, marketing, sustainability, and food systems design. I attended Western Washington University where I pursued a degree in business and sustainable agriculture. I went on to earn my MBA at Bainbridge graduate Institute, a small independent business school dedicated to using the tools of business for environmental and social good.Upon completing that program, I co-founded LINC Foods, a worker-farmer-owned cooperative food hub based in Spokane, and organization on which I am proud to still serve on the board of directors. I am a second generation Holistic Management educator and have had the honor of teaching and studying holistic management in Turkey, Mexico, and throughout the United States. Along with fellow Holistic Management practitioner, Sandra Matheson, I am a co-facilitator of the New Cowgirl Camp, a 5 day intensive course for women interested in learning the ins and outs of regenerative ranching.
When I’m not chasing cows or fixing fence, I enjoy gardening, singing to my dogs, riding horses, and kayaking

Despite—or perhaps because of—a largely suburban upbringing, I've always been fascinated by the more-than-human world and how we fit within it. After earning my B.A. in cultural anthropology in 2012 I spent several years mentoring youth on building joyful relationship skills.
My land based regeneration journey sparked one winter evening in 2015 watching Geoff Lawton's work in Wadi Rum and Allan Savory's TED talk. I turned to my partner Ethan and declared, "This is the most important thing we can do!" Since then, we've pursued deep knowledge across the brittleness scale, studying with diverse practitioners in New Zealand, Australia, Washington, and Kansas. In 2023, I became a Savory Institute-accredited professional. In June 2024, we found home: 76 acres and a little house in Fort Bidwell, CA.
Alongside working with UVE, I'm co-owner/operator of Convergence Ecosystem Services LLC, where we provide holistic approaches to fuels reduction and ecological resilience through biochar and goat grazing.
I'm thrilled to work within UVE's guild; throughout my journey, I've been guided by the very same remarkable humans I now get to work alongside, and I love guiding clients with the same tools and frameworks that have been critical to my own development as a land steward.
While I love the entire Holistic Management framework, my particular areas of passion are: holistic management in fire-adapted landscapes, small ruminant management, creating space for empathy and understanding across diverse lived experiences, holistic land planning implementing permaculture principles, and working where environmental and social regeneration uplift each other. As someone four generations removed from formal land stewardship, I'm passionate about empowering diverse voices critical to reversing anthropogenic desertification.
In my spare time, you'll find me hanging out with dogs and horses, singing to the creek, and sketching or photographing the world around me.

I manage farmland on behalf of my family in eastern Oregon, as well as operate a small homestead business on the property, called Dora’s Garden. I raise mixed poultry and small ruminants, and I produce garden seeds, which as sold in seed packets as Sunny Eastern Oregon Seeds. In 2021, I moved home to help my mother with the business, who was suffering from a terminal illness at the time. Previously, I had pursued other careers. This included 2-3 years in the beer industry, where I most recently ran the lab at Full Sail Brewing and KYLA Hard Kombucha (which are different companies on paper, but operated by the same people in the same space). Before that, I completed a Ph.D. in ecology and evolution from the University of Illinois, where my research was on the ecology of soil bacteria and denitrification in restored floodplain wetlands. One thing I love most about working for UVE is that it combines my love of animals with my love for soil and ecology! This is a rich interaction I’ve only recently started to explore and I love to talk about it. I’m delighted and honored to be learning from some of the greats in regenerative agriculture, and I look forward to learning from the new people I meet in these courses. When I’m not digging in the soil, attending seed conferences, or working with farm animals, I catch up with my family and spend time with my cats and senior husky, Atticus. I dabble in amateur filmmaking with my YouTube channel Dora Does Things. I also continue to homebrew beer and I ferment “farmhouse” wines from the various non-grape fruits I grow here on the farm.

For the past 15 years, I’ve worked alongside land stewards and collaborative teams to advance regenerative agriculture, landscape restoration, and community resilience. Before joining the UVE Crew in fall 2026, I worked with organizations including the Savory Institute, Quivira Coalition, and WLA, bringing experience in project development, partnerships, and collaborative initiatives that support people and healthy landscapes. For over six years at the Savory Institute, I led the design and development of large-scale grasslands regeneration projects across Africa, Oceania, Europe, and North America, bringing together land stewards, local communities, technical experts, and philanthropic partners through design to implementation.
Before moving into regenerative agriculture, I spent ten years with Voyageur Outward Bound School, leading wilderness expeditions and living out of a canoe in the Boundary Waters Canoe Wilderness of northern Minnesota, training and mentoring instructors, and traveling alongside young people as they developed skills in communication and team work, and built their own resilience and confidence while navigating through the wilderness. Those years established a foundational relationship with Nature, and to this day, continue to profoundly influence how I approach work, life, and relationships. I make time to go completely offline and disappear into canoe country for several weeks every year.
From Outward Bound, I went on to earn my MS in Forestry at the University of British Columbia before returning home to Santa Fe, New Mexico in 2008 to seek work in forestry, and where serendipity led me instead into a career in grasslands and regenerative agriculture.
At UVE, I focus on resource mobilization, philanthropic partnerships, and project design and development. I cultivate relationships with funders and strategic partners, help shape new initiatives, and help guide projects from vision to implementation.

I’m an aspiring jack of all trades and master of some! My family has been involved in agriculture for over 100 years- although it’s a world I didn’t personally really grow up in, it’s one that I have always felt drawn into. There’s been lots to learn, but I love getting insight into different ag systems and seeing how they can interact holistically. I have had the opportunity to work on several farm, ranch, and greenhouse operations and currently work on a small regenerative, mixed- enterprise farm here in Southeastern Idaho. I was introduced to the Savory Institute and UVE in 2022 while interning at Secret Pass Ranch in Nevada, and was inspired to pursue a role with EOV monitoring. This spring was a milestone for me getting to live that dream, finish training and become a monitor! I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Plant Science & Agricultural Technology at BYU-I. I love listening to a good audiobook, exploring new places, nerding out about plants, dabbling in woodworking, tending my vegetable garden, and running a little secondhand western clothing business. Here’s the link to that if you find yourself in need of some pre- loved jeans, pearl snaps and more: @shouldabeenacowboyboutique

Spencer Tregilgas is a Master Field Professional with the Savory Institute. In addition to EOV monitoring, he manages a large pasture based, certified regenerative dairy in Del Norte County, California. He also co-owns and runs Agnus LLC with his wife and 7 children, a sheep operation producing lamb and wool, and has successfully run targeted grazing projects in the past for private landowners, HOA’s and government entities. Prior to managing the dairy on the north coast, Spencer owned and ran Free Hand Farm, a small but successful direct marketed raw milk dairy, with cows on pasture year-round in the foothills of the Sierra Nevadas. Spencer can be found sharing what he’s learned over the years locally and as far away as Estonia; he is always excited to meet other farmers and ranchers and learn from them. He previously studied as a ballet dancer and actor, and enjoys surfing and running in his spare time. He can be reached at spencer.tregilgas@gmail.com

I live on and help run a small homestead with my wife in North Central Idaho where we have a garden, a small flock of sheep, some geese and a variety of trees that I have planted over the years. I am also a very passionate hunter and manage a portion of our property as wildlife habitat. I have for a long time been interested in natural systems and have focused on accumulating knowledge in certain areas such as permaculture, regenerative agriculture, wild game habitat management and related subjects. I am relatively new to holistic management, but already see it as an amazing tool to help people from all walks of life meet a huge variety of goals. I would love to see it be used more for helping to sustain healthy wildlife populations and it is a goal of mine to help promote it for this purpose. I also enjoy just interacting with the land and nerding out about plants so those are some of the things that made EOV appealing to me.
