Anticipating the 2026 EOV season
As spring unfolds across the West, plans are well underway for UVE’s 2026 Ecological Outcome Verification (EOV) monitoring season. This year, we are preparing to monitor 35 landbases across California, Oregon, Washington, Nevada, Idaho, and Colorado, including three new landbases that will receive baseline monitoring for the first time.
The first monitoring events of the season have already been completed in California, where the growing season peaks earliest in our region. As always, these early-season visits mark the beginning of months spent walking pastures, reading landscapes, and gathering data that helps land stewards understand ecological change over time.
This season brings together a strong team of experienced and new monitors alike. Returning to the field are Sarah Choi, Spencer Tregilgas, West Lambert, and Madison Throop, each bringing valuable skill, insight, and familiarity with the landscapes they serve. Joining the team this year are Travis Campbell and Emma Sorensen, whose energy and fresh perspective will help strengthen the season ahead.
EOV monitoring is about more than collecting data. It is a chance to meet land stewards where they are, observe the results of management decisions, and create a clearer picture of ecosystem function through time. From arid rangelands to mountain valleys, every landbase has its own story to tell.
We are grateful to the producers, ranchers, farmers, and partners who make this work possible, and excited to see what this season reveals. Here’s to another year of learning from the land.
